‘Star Wars’ September 2024 Comics Preview: Landmark Finales, ‘Inquisitors’ Preview, and More

Happy July! We will start the month by looking at what’s in the pipeline for Star Wars comics. The headline of the news dump is the recently released September comic solicitations. The long-awaited finales of Star Wars and Darth Vader are finally on the horizon. Issue #50 is a bit of a landmark in today’s comic landscape, and Marvel is celebrating with two oversized, 50-page epic finales that will wrap up this era of storytelling. Elsewhere, and in case you missed it, The Acolyte‘s Kelnacca is getting his own one-shot. The issue will help bridge the gap between High Republic Publishing and the Disney Plus series.

Bringing things back to July, two new series, Inquisitors and Ahsoka, are set to debut. Inquisitors #1, written by Rodney Barnes with art from Ramon Rosanas, will be released in just a few days on July 3. The four-issue miniseries follows the Inquisitors as they hunt down Tensu Run, an Order 66 survivor that Vader personally wants erased. Who is he? Why is he so important? I’m sure we’ll get answers quickly. Courtesy of Comic Watch, check out a few pages below:

You can also find a preview for this week’s The High Republic #9 here. Ahsoka #1, also written by Barnes, will drop on July 10. That series is simply an adaptation of the Disney Plus series, so it remains to be seen if they will use a different approach versus the shot-for-shot take made for The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Now, looking ahead to September, check with your local comic book shop on what pre-order options they have available (or you can be boring and choose digital). You can visit here for a refresher on what else is coming from Star Wars comics. As a reminder, the very nature of comic solicitations is spoiler-filled, so be aware before going forward.
