‘Star Wars Outlaws’ New Footage and Score Shown in Graphics Clip

New game footage and part of the original score has been revealed for Star Wars Outlaws in a brand new video showcasing some of the graphical differences when implementing the ray reconstruction graphical feature.

The score is certainly a different spin on the classic Star Wars theme, but it definitely feels familiar, just like the score did for the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor video games.

While the shot of Kay Vess walking through the port town of Toshara is nothing new, there are some new shots of Toshara’s exterior and Kay walking through a cantina, as well as the inside of an Imperial base and a crashed TIE Fighter that haven’t been seen before. They all look particularly gorgeous when showcased with ray tracing on. The video confirms that the game will launch with compatibility for NVIDIA’s DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction.

Ray reconstruction is a new form of ray tracing using AI to make the graphical display the best it can be. Ray tracing is a relatively new phenomenon in video games that only started to get introduced at the tail end of the previous console generation (though PCs have been using it for a while longer). Activating tends to make environmental lighting look that bit crisper, while smaller details will stand out better to make the whole experience look the best it can be.

While it’s likely that you’d need either a high end PC or TV display in order to take full advantage of the Ray reconstruction feature, it’s nice to know that a new Star Wars video game is going to look the absolute best it can on launch day. Let’s just hope it doesn’t suffer from framerate dips on day one like Survivor did, although Ubisoft are veterans at this point when it comes to making open world games run as smoothly as possible.

It’s likely that more footage will be shown of Star Wars Outlaws at the Xbox Showcase (the first trailer appeared in their show last year) on Sunday, June 9. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for anything that drops.
