Hayden Christensen Surprises ‘The Acolyte’ Star Amandla Stenberg With Supportive Message

The Chosen One himself has weighed in on The Acolyte, as Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen has revealed a surprise message for Amandla Stenberg as he welcomes her into the Star Wars family.

The actor — who first portrayed Anakin Skywalker in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith in the prequel trilogy — recorded a short message, and also noted that he hoped that he would be able to meet her one day in person, and hopefully at a Star Wars Celebration event in the future.

The Acolyte lead actress Amandla Stenberg, who has stated that Revenge of the Sith is her favorite Star Wars movie, was in for a surprise when that film’s star appeared to give her a message of support as she takes her first steps into a larger world. You can watch the video below:

Hayden Christensen’s return to the role first began in The Rise of Skywalker with a few lines delivered as a message to a desperate Rey as she needed guidance for her final trial. Christensen would later go on to make full appearances in Obi-Wan Kenobi (with scenes set before and after he was placed in the armor of Darth Vader) and Ahsoka (as a spiritual advisor to reaffirm his apprentice’s commitment to the Jedi) on Disney Plus.

The Acolyte is set nearly a century before Anakin Skywalker was born, so the chances of Hayden Christensen appearing in the new series are pretty low. Nonetheless, Amandla Stenberg’s reaction was nothing short of adorable and it clearly made her day. The actress has said repeatedly in recent interviews that she is a “big Anakin fan” and had a soft spot for the actor when she first watched the films.

Star Wars: The Acolyte begins streaming on Disney Plus on June 4, 2024 with a two-episode premiere. The show is intended to run for multiple seasons, and a second season is presently in active development with a writers’ room.
