Walt Disney Records Reveal New ‘Star Wars’ Lofi Album

Disney announced yet another fun little gift to celebrate this May 4th weekend with the release of a Star Wars Lofi album, including three songs composed by seasoned Lucasfilm collaborator, Kevin Kiner. Note that this album includes what I believe are a mix of new lofi songs and some from the Star Wars Youtube channel lofi series that seem to have been retooled a bit for this new album.

Walt Disney Records formally presents the new collection of lofi mixes, which along with Kevin Kiner includes music from songwriters and producers Chantry Johnson, Lucky West, and Nick Pingree. The digital album is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

Walt Disney Records summarized the album with the following:

Star Wars Lofi: Vol. 1 is a captivating fusion of hip-hop, jazz, and electronic elements, creating a sound that is truly one-of-a-kind and perfectly complements the ambiance of the Star Wars galaxy. From Ahsoka, and Andor, to The Mandalorian and The Clone Wars, this album offers a diverse selection of tracks from hit series in the Star Wars franchise. The mellow and soothing beats of Star Wars Lofi: Vol. 1 are perfect for studying, working, or relaxing and will transport you on a journey through the galaxy far, far away.

Interestingly, Lucasfilm appears to be doubling down on their lofi efforts with Star Wars Lofi Volumes 2 and 3 set for release later this year.  I wrote about their initial foray into the lofi community last year and how pleasantly surprised I was. They have since added to the lofi videos on Youtube, including songs for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Andor, Kenobi, and more. Although I still prefer to have the cozy animations alongside the songs on Youtube, I’m happy to see they’re committed to the genre.

In addition to the release of the lofi album, Lucasfilm and Kiner have also released the final soundtrack album for The Bad Batch including the score for episodes 9-15. And to top it all off, as was reported yesterday, the soundtrack albums for seasons 3 and 4 of Rebels has also, finally, been released! Both The Bad Batch and Rebels soundtracks are available on all major music streaming platforms.

And in a final Star Wars musical flourish, Spotify created a lightsaber scavenger hunt for users of their mobile app. Listen to the Best of Star Wars playlist to begin unlocking hidden lightsabers in the tracks. As specific songs are played, listeners will receive a message from characters announcing they have unlocked a lightsaber. Once a listener has collected all five, check back later for a special message coming from a galaxy far, far away.
