Lucasfilm Shares “May The 4th” Video Thanking ‘Star Wars’ Fans

Lucasfilm released a new video on social media ahead of May the 4th, the unofficial Star Wars holiday, thanking Star Wars fans everywhere.

The video is comprised of a bunch of footage of cosplaying Star Wars fans at various Star Wars Celebrations and other miscellaneous Star Wars events over the years, along with snippets of interviews with prominent actors in a galaxy far, far away.

The first actor to pop up is Mark Hamill, remarking in an interview that “It all started with the fans.”

There are a bunch of clips of moments from different Star Wars films and series all describing Star Wars fans in a single word, ultimately settling on the notion that the fandom is a family. The voice of Hayden Christensen corroborates this in another voice over, saying:

Star Wars fans, they’re like a family. They’ll be with you for a very long time to come, I think, and I hope.

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee of The Mandalorian and Ahsoka remarks in a press interview that “It’s been a part of my life forever” followed by a message indicating a desire to celebrate the fans, and then a clip of Sam Witwer doing a Yoda impression and The Acolyte casts cheering “We’re in Star Wars, baby!”

Dave Filoni pops up saying, “The amount of effort you put into being Star Wars fans is what makes Star Wars so great.”

Hayden Christensen adds that “We’re all Star Wars fans,” and the video is rounded off with multiple actors proclaiming “May the 4th be with you!” including Dave Filoni, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, multiple cast members of The Acolyte, and finally Rosario Dawson.

We get to celebrate May the 4th this year with the release of Tales of the Empire, which received new TV spots starring Barriss Offee and Darth Vader this week.
